Dr Abhi Prashar is an Interventional, Structural, and General Cardiologist. After completing his cardiology training at St George Hospital in 2020, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). He then underwent advanced sub-specialty training in coronary and structural heart interventions. His training led him to prestigious institutions including St George Hospital (Sydney) in 2021, the Austin Hospital (Melbourne) in 2022, and the world-renowned King’s College Hospital (London) in 2023.

Abhi’s clinical focus spans general and interventional cardiology, encompassing chest pain assessment, coronary angioplasty, percutaneous coronary intervention, and advanced coronary calcium modification. His proficiency extends to intravascular imaging with IVUS and OCT. Notably, he specialises in the management of patients with valvular heart diseases, employing cutting-edge techniques such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and transcatheter edge-to-edge-repair (TEER) for mitral and tricuspid regurgitation. He is also proficient in patent foramen ovale closure, atrial septal defect and left atrial appendage occlusion.

Beyond his clinical endeavours, Abhi is committed to medical research and clinical excellence. He has extensive publications in leading cardiology journals, addressing both coronary and structural heart diseases. He holds a Masters of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney. Abhi is also passionate about medical education and is currently an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) as well as a Conjoint Lecturer with the University of New South Wales.
